Here come Mrs. Freeman's kids, running as fast as a speeding bullet! That's what you would have thought if you saw us at the Jogathon last week. You wouldn't even believe how fast we were running! But why were we running? To raise money for our school! All the kids in school get to do the Jogathon, and we run with our buddy class. At the end, we get to have lemonade and popsicles. It was deeeeelicious! This week, there were drawings for kids who turned their money in, and someone from our class won! But we will have to wait to see if we won the Golden Shoe!
Ahhhh! Look! There's a big, brown preying mantis in our classroom! One day, Grace brought it to school to keep as a classroom pet. Mrs. Freeman put it in a terrarium. Over the weekend, it molted! When we came back to school on Monday, we saw its old exoskeleton in the terrarium. It likes to stay at the top and stick its feet through the holes! We keep catching bugs for it, but it didn't eat anything yet. Well, it did eat one mosquito! Stop by and see it sometime!
What a surprise! We found letters on our tables from our parents this morning! They were very special letters to us because they told us all about the super powers our parents wish they could have. Some of them were silly, some of them were happy, and all of them were super! Some of us needed help reading our parents' sloppy handwriting! What super power would you choose if you could have one? Have a good day! Bye!
We are the Super Smarties, and we're here to say...
We're going to earn a Super Smarty Party some day! In our class, we have a bucket. Mrs. Freeman puts Smarties in the bucket any time we are good, show respect, or walk quietly in the hall, and when other teachers give us compliments about our good behavior. It is already three-quarters of the way filled up! Guess what happens when it gets to the top? We get a... SMARTY PARTY! Hello to whoever might be reading this! We are the Super Smarties from Mrs. Freeman's class at Schroeder Elementary. Today was our first day of second grade. It was awesome! We found out some of the things we will learn about this year, like insects. We stopped by the Reading Cafe for some good stories. We had a recess with all of our friends from first grade. It was a Super Smarty day! We hope you have one, too!
Okay, this time, the DADS can't read today's post. Oh no! There's a dad - quick, cover the screen! Don't let him keep reading, whatever you do. Okay here goes... Uh-oh - he's peeking! Incoming dad! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! The alarm is going off! Get him out of here! Really!
Okay, moms, now we will tell you what we made this week. It's a... No, not again! Seriously, Dad, take a hike! Let the moms read in peace. Well, maybe we should just give clues again. * It has to do with sports. * It's orange and blue. * It made from materials you get from trees. * Dad's never going to guess what it is! Okay, you have until Sunday to try and figure it out! Go, go, go! Run, run, run! You can do it! Hurry, hurry, faster! That's how we sounded cheering our friends on today at Field Day. Our favorite things were Hula hoops, Tug of War, and the Water Balloon Toss! In Hula Hoops, Anushri was the champion of the girls, and Colin was the champion of the boys. When they battled for the title, Colin won! That's the third year in a row! In the Tug of War, we lost to Mrs. Bolden's class, but we tried our best! Then, the girls beat the boys twice! In the water balloons toss, some of us got soaked! Then we ate popsicles. Yum! Well, there were a lot more fun things too, but you'll just have to ask one of us in person. We're too tired out to write any more....zzzzz!
Moms, don't read this! Seriously, don't! It's inappropriate for moms at this point in time. Dads, we'll let you in on the secret, as long as you DON'T TELL MOM! Is she gone yet? No?! We told you to get out of here! Okay, so
here's the big secret... This week, we made... Hey! There she is again! Please, we're begging you! We're trying to tell dad some top secret information! We need some private time with dad, so shoo! (No offense - love ya mom. But a secret is a secret.) Okay, fine, since she won't stop reading, we'll just have to give you some clues: We used paint. It is shaped like a rectangle. It involved recess. Our fingers got messy. Mom's going to LOVE it! If you think you have a guess, leave it in a comment below. You'll have to wait for Sunday to find out if you are correct! Today, we went around the world! It was the Schroeder World Tour, and we got to visit nine different countries. We learned about the languages people speak in those countries and what they do for fun. In South Korea, we learned what animal we are, depending on what year we were born. In Turkey, we got to see calligraphy. In Spain, we learned about bullfighting and dancing. In the United States, we visited Mt. Rushmore. Can you believe it? And we got to do and see a lot more than that, too - without even leaving Schroeder!
Hi! It's us again! We are having a competition in art. Would you like to hear about it? It all started when we were in art class today. Miss Wettlaufer told us that we will be in a competition with all the second graders in Troy - even in other schools! We are drawing close-ups of flowers, because they are going to be hung in the Troy Garden Club. The Garden Club will be the judges, and if you win, you won't get your drawing back for a long time. That's because the winners will be hung up along the garden walk for all of spring! Wish us luck!
